Pain helps us human beings to prevent damage to our body and death. If we can't die, what's the point of having us feel pain? Sadistic much?

You are thinking along the lines of a hell of fire and brimstone. Ever consider God's best explanation to man about hell's misery and torment would be to describe it with what most people would see as the worst possible punishment.
