Installed the raspbmc (port of xbmc) and it works like a charm.
However, I've noticed that it overclocks the pi from 700 to 800MHz.
But it does play MKV files @1080p with no stutter... and I was also apt-get'ing some details from an ssh prompt on my laptop.
I got the pi mostly to access a machine at home via SSH and that can be done.... it can also do many other things, which are cool, but not my main aim. I also wanted a machine that made little or no noise and little or no heat...and, so far, it's panning out as planned!
You can safely overclock it to 1000Mhz, which is where mine is set.

But I'll let it stick with the 800MHz... "if it works, don't fix it"!
