Yea as stated I do not really believe everything I read. However World War I was started on similar grounds.
WWI started because the war fighting power of the Allied and Central powers were comparable, and therefore each side had a plausible scenario of successful outcome.
There is no plausible scenario of successful outcome that I can see for Russia if Russia attack Saudi Arabia. Russia can't topple the Saudi Regime, can't occupy Saudi territory, Saudi Arabia will still have her vast oil resources and wealth. Saudi Arabia's interests would still be unchanged. But Saudi relation with Russia will be permanently poisoned. The US will try all that much harder to wedge Russia out of her sphere of influence in Central Asia. It's not clear exactly what Russia can possibly achieve at all by attacking Saudi Arabia.
