I concur, but others that subscribe to a different epistemology would disagree. Regardless, that doesn't make philosophy as whole useless, especially given that science rests upon philosophical premises.

I was being kind of silly, though it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when philosophy is put forth as a means to knowledge on the same level as science. Also, every time you say the word 'epistemology', a jstrodel gets his wings.

I was not being silly about theology, though. Theology is one of the least useful enterprises humans have ever invented.

Philosophy is not a singular monolith as you imagine in your mind, but comes in various strains. Analytical philosophy involves, typically, the rigorous application of logic and reason to the world around us, including knowledge derived from science. Unfortunately, Eastern philosophy and certain Continental traditions that are less rigorous also fall under the umbrella of philosophy.

Sadly, for ignoramuses such as yourself, when you think of a philosopher, you think of a man with a beard and elbow patches spouting bullshit akin to Heidegger or Derrida. But this is a simplistic stereotype that ignores the vast swath of analytical philosophers, whose work much of science depends on. These analytical philosophers often know as much about science as scientists. The difference is they don't do experiments, but study the published findings.

To reject philosophy as an equal to science as a source of knowledge is to thus reject logic as a source of knowledge. Which is a level of stupidity reserved for someone like you.

But it's especially ridiculous when you look at what happens to science when logic is forced out. It cannot function. Which goes to show, Ryan, your profound ignorance of the topics you profess to know of.
