Not a bad idea. Thanks to my dad playing the guitar and flute for me and my sister when we were kids, I got in to music myself.
if u want to learn to make good guitar solos, u first have to learn some basic musical theorethics ..and be able to know the names of the notes of the scale WILE ur playing them ...its not only playing a pattern u ve copyed out of a book ..
u have to know what u r doing and where u find other notes outside of the pattern at 1 location u ve learned out of the book ..
then ...the trick !!
when u r good enough in musical theoretics ...AND COUNTING WHILE U U PLAY !!!!
then buy an old taperecorder with multiple speeds..the speeds must be half of the fasted speed ...like 19 cm /s the fastest ..the other must be 9,5 cm .s //
this ensures that what solo u record on the fast speed, will be 1 octave lower and half as slow.!!
in my days we had still records and turntable with adjustable speed...so u could tune ur guitar exactly in A...and then adjust the key the record is played in to that ...or make a compromise..so ur guitar played in the same key as the music on the record......
and 2 3 yrs of 4 hrs a day does the trick ...
I can't think as fast as I can play, with regards to naming the notes while playing them, I don't think you really need to know how to do that.
