You should also probably ask her if she thinks that Lennon's words caused him to be shot (as the sentence implies), and then ask if this is meant to be an argument for being a Christian. Does she have a belief that everyone who disagrees with her should be "shot"? Does she think his shooting was "just" because he said what he did? If she answers 'yes' to either of these, I wouldn't want to touch her religion with a very long pole.
