One point that I think is not well-understood by the general membership is that we moderate AF lightly. Simply being insulting or rude isn't necessarily enough to get our attention - we look at the context of the thread, and the context of the poster's history and try to make a fair determination. There is a fair amount of necessary subjectivity to the process - and for the 18 months I have been on staff, it has been my opinion that it has been overwhelmingly done without bias. In cases where a staff member has overstepped, corrections have been made.
There is one constant - no matter what we do, there will always be those who are unhappy with it. That's OK - we aren't here to make the most people happy, we're here to promote an environment where people can discuss divisive topics.
