Oh I share the distaste of those behaviors. Probably more so than you since I also experience embarrassment by association. I also experience frustration that there is a great desire among many Christians to feel persecuted and despised "because of their faith.". I try to tell them that no, people despise them for being whiny birches. But that job gets harder when people actually DO hate them for their religion (rather than their behaviour.

As my wife is nominally a Christian I have to say I quite like fucking her too.
Of course I have never fucked a Buddhist so I can readily make comparisons.
