But that's not the issue. The issue is that they should not be allowed to entrench that disapproval into law, or society at large.
I might not approve of black people. Or Mexicans. Or rednecks. But if that was the case, it would be profoundly fucked up for me to try to pass different laws for them, or to get elected on the platform that they are unnatural!
I suspect the sad truth is that homosexuality is a "safe" sin to rag on. Can't get too aggressive about adultary, or greed, or callousness. Might upset the audience and that is bad for the bottom line. But gays, you can denounce them all day long, everyone gets to feel appropriately outraged and self righteous. Very safe.
