This is very familiar ground for me. To agnostic for the christians, to theist for the atheists. Love you too Lion.
Like it or not the church, Catholic AND other, has a large number of beams in our own eyes. Unless we are at least honest about the fact, we have absolutely zero moral authority to even talk about what other people are doing, much less try to get them to follow standards we can't. The sooner the church wakes up to this the better.
Catholic priests, in considerable numbers, raped small children and worse, were protected from the consequences of this vile crime by the church in which those children had placed their trust. On that basis how dare we try to impose our views on what constitutes marriage to people who don't share our beliefs. How dare we even talk about sexual morality?
Shame on us.
So, you believe when a few priest rape, that the rest of the Christians are guilty, how does this kind of attitude differ from the atheist? If you want to take on the guilt of these priest go ahead, but do not expect the Christians here to believe you are even close to being Jesus. Do not lump us in with those who have decides to do evil in the church, shame on you.

Crazy, left field idea for you. Perhaps, just perhaps "the atheist" might be right about some stuff. Don't want to be coming at you with these wild ideas about religion, but I don't think that how we view that particular scandal is an issue of faith. Funny how you seem to assume that Christians and atheists should automatically have different views on kiddie fiddling priests and a massive organised cover up.
As to the christians here not thinking I'm "close to being Jesus", I'm gutted to hear you say that. And there I thought I'd convinced you I was, in fact close to being jesus. Bollocks. What game me away as not being Jesus. Was it the name? It was the name wasn't it.
Have I convinced any atheists that I'm close to being Jesus I wonder. If not I'm going home now.
On the subject of Jesus, how much did he preach on homosexuality? That would be not at all. However he did have some choice words for people who judged those around them when the ground they stood on was none too solid. Spoke about that quite a bit! So how many churches, or even individual Christians, are there who are without sin, and therefore able to throw stones, on sexual morality. What do you think he'd make of church today.

This has been shown here many times to be the wrong interpretation of the verse, why can't you learn anything from what others have shown you.

Well, if you don't fancy throwing the stones at the kids, we could always throw the kids at the stones
“Happy is he who repays you for what you have done to us – he who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks"
What's the correct interpretation of that one?
"Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken."
