"same god"? sorta...
"Needs to be born jewish"? huh? That's fresh... you need to be born in a given family to believe in a particular version of a particular god to have a particular way of worshiping that god?
You hinted that the Rabbi was saying the truth when he said "they worship God in their way, and I worship God in His".
Meaning, to my mind, that you're not worshiping your god in His way (whatever that is and however a person determines it)... but yours... and that's just not right, apparently. So you should turn jew to do it the right way.
To be a Jew you have to be born into a Jewish family, hope this make it simpler for you. Many Jews do not worship or recognize God, we have one on the forum actually. I can no more make myself Jewish than you can make yourself a rock.
I agreed with what the Rabbi said because we are suppose to worship God in His way. Those who worship God in their ways are trying to fit God into their lives instead of them making themselves fir into God's will.

My question was essentially ¨why is your god the only true and real one¨. Do you not see how that's circular logic?
There is no circular reasoning on my part, I told you with no doubt that my God is the only real God the rest are wood, stone or metal, just objects.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
