no, eternity doesn't have to be a place nor was it ever considered a place. it's always been considered a state of existence. now, i'll expect you'll say something along the lines of "but God has to exist someplace" but he really doesn't. consider this, can you tell me where space exists? no? but we know space exists since so it must exist someplace right? since space doesn't need a place to exist it is therefore not necessary for everything to exist someplace.

Or maybe it does... exist... somewhere... in a high dimensionality space, confined to a 3D+1 "sheet of paper"...
Philosophizing is fun!

Most people miss this entirely. Genesis 1 is a creation of Elohim with no restrictions to the fruit. Mankind was BOTH male and female. Genesis 2 is a creation of the LORD (Son of God) as the Ark for the pairs of beasts (Male AND female). The divisions do not end there. There were both clean and unclean. The tree of knowledge was restricted. The flood is baptism, or involution.

With that said, why are we here in animal skins?

Genesis 3

21 The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. 22 And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”

The flood was a mechanism for God's long-suffering with us. We lost our position in paradise and engaged into the IMAGE of Heaven. Read Genesis 1:27:

27 So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

Both male and female. AND, we are INSIDE an image, and THE image of God. Here is the important part. Don't lose concentration. Think on this Matrix idea of an image, or the residual self-image. The movie is a good metaphor and the makers of the movie know the story well. Here is the main point of eternity.

Look in a mirror. Do you see you, or your image? What casts that image? You know the 2D image in the mirror is not you, yet you know you are the one casting said image. Think higher dimensionally. You are not this image either. This is merely a frame of time (Shadow of 4D). Where are you?

Above, you are the Angel. Below, you are the Child of God entangled in the image of creation. Now, return to eternity and where and when it is. When you play a DVD, is the timeline on the DVD the same as yours as the observer (Watcher)? No. It can be played over and over. Until you ride the wave to the end (TAV), you are in the water (Flood).

Eternity has existed since the beginning (Genesis 1). This is the first seven days. Genesis 2 is after the fall, or the response to the fall. God is carrying the Sheep through the wilderness. All of these stories are parables for where we really are and why we are here. Eternity is where we go when we cross through the gate with the Shepherd.
