It is about blood, as we do not accept outsiders. No one can come up and say "I'm a Turk" and then suddenly become a Turk. You must come from a family of Turks, which implies that you have to have the blood of the Turks within your veins, for at least three generations.

It means, that I, and my ancestors have had the same ethnic consciousness for millenia.
We were not at one point Celts, Anglo-Saxons, Normans, or a mix of these. Our consciousness remained the same throughout the generations since we have entered the pages of history.

Well, you obviously forgot about the waves of Kuns, Bolgars, Apars, Khazars, Kypchaks and others that have ventured to the west from the north of the Caspian sea. The Turks of Turkey have ventured from the east, facing the Muslim dynasties and the Roman territories in Anatolia, while the others have done their part by invading from the north.

Obviously we were more numerous, and we came in waves of migrations.
Having trouble standing their ground, most of them have moved to urban areas, and in the 20th century, most have been already sent off somewhere. The Greeks during the population exchange, and the Armenians during the exile.
There are still some remaining though in Istanbul, mostly. They are still Christian.
Not to mention that it wasn't just the Oghuz who came to Anatolia. Large numbers of Kypchaks/Kumans(my patrilineal tribe), Qaratatars, and many other tribes came and settled here, and many more during the Mongol Invasion.
