10. I'm a dog person. I especially like Borzois, Salukis, and Irish Wolfhounds, but unfortunately, due to an attack by a large dog in my youth, I'm somewhat fearful of getting close to large dogs. I could live with a cat, but it would be an uneasy truce, and one of us just might go missing some lonely night.
When I was in middle school I had my first knowledge-infatuation with animals. Everything about them. That included breeds of dogs although we just had a mutt as a family. Anyhow, the Salukis always appealed to me the most. Their looks, speed and independent nature struck me as romantic I guess.
Now I'm all about herding dogs. They are so smart and interactive. My poor sweet lab/golden cross Sophie I raised from a young puppy to be totally obedient.

She was all that and she imposed 'the law' on every other dog we brought into the house. She was like a daughter that doted on you and did everything you asked but just didn't have her own center. Put another way, her center was wrapped around me. My herding dogs keep their own centers while also being affectionate and very trainable. The thing is they are always training you back with any wiggle room you leave them. They become amused and intrigued by the world around them while still keeping tuned into what's going on with me.
So I won't ever actually live with a Saluki but I enjoy watching them move when I get a chance.
