The bible does indeed say that God created us in his image. However people have different ideas about what that means. The literal interpretation would be that God has a physical form and that this is the image in which OUR physical forms are created. Hence the butthole.
Perhaps if we could refrain from calling one another poopy head, we might examine this question because its actually quite a good one.
Drich, what do you believe this passage means? I presume you don't agree with the idea that god has a physical form or he really WOULD have a butthole, so what do you think this passage means? What is gods image in this context?
The passage that says we are made in Gods own image is found in Genesis 1 the Hebrew word used for "in his own image," is: צֶלֶם tselem
It refers to a likeness or similarity as between a sculpture or drawing and the model.
Whether that means we are physically alike spiritually alike both or neither, don't put all your eggs into God has or doesn't have a butthole or any other specific attribute basket.
That said I believe we share a basic shape, and emotional qualities as per various other passages.
