That's not necessarily true. My family disowned me for not being Christian enough. We have only spoken through lawyers in the past 15 years. Just last week, an acquaintance of mine asked me to help her find a part-time job. She confided that over Christmas she and her long-time boyfriend went to her parents' house for the holiday. When they found out he was an atheist, they kicked him out of the house, and told her they wouldn't continue paying for her schooling as long as she was with the atheist. Family bonds doesn't always overcome Christianity.
