Exmormon here. I think they fill Mormons days with all that stuff so they don't get a chance to THINK. Cause if you start to THINK....it all falls apart and the Morg looses one of their cash cows.

The intensity of social pressure is unreal. They use families as weapons against each other too. Anything to keep the sheep in line.

As an Exmo, while you were still "in" did you realize the kind of pressure you were under? Not realize? Or did you realize but not care?

I'd be willing to bet that lots of Mormons are not truly happy. They just keep up appearances.

This is what I've heard - they're under so much pressure to appear happy and well-off and to basically be the perfect person with the perfect family all so it reflects well on the LDS church.

FUCK YES. That cult is so incredibly dangerous. I can't express in words how much I fucking hate it. I just can't.

I don't know how much blame can be put directly on the LDS church for the high suicide rate (UT is also the highest, or among the highest, state in terms of people on anti-depressive medications I think), but I'm sure at least some of it can be attributed to the pressures put on people by the church and the need to always be the perfect example of a Mormon.

There is so much pressure to conform to the party line. Crushing pressure. That's not motivation.

I'm in a theological discussion with a Mormon online right now and I've gotten the impression that she's not very party line... but I'm not now, nor have I ever been Mormon and I don't know the details of the doctrine so she could be completely theologically correct in the bat shit crazy things she's saying... :p

If you do go over to the church building, ask for a "triple combination". If not, I could prolly get my hands on one and send it to ya.
