If Buddha was on the job:
1. Those kids wouldn't have been trapped in the cave to begin with.
2. They would have been found right off.
3. They would have been rescued right off.
4. The Thai diver wouldn't have died.
5. The Thai government would have already assigned me the film rights, free of charge.

The parents prayed to Buddha and made a deal that if the boys got back alive they would send them all in for service.
So the boys will become monks for a short while to honour the deal.
Thailand has lots of boy monks and they do it like a rite of passage but not for too long, anywhere from a few months to a year.

Buddhist meditation is a far cry from prayer. They're not "praying" to anyone. The boys in the cave used it as a method to temporary eliminate their anxiety.
