Quote: Some points I agree with. Some, I don't. Ever since the United States became a nation and even beyond in our very first settlements here, we developed our own identity, our own flag, recognized one language, and developed our own culture, sub cultures, and form of government. Whites and Blacks both have generations that go back hundreds of years here. American Blacks have no more connection to their ancestral Africa than American Whites have to their ancestral Europe. Also, slavery ended here during the Civil War. That generation of White slave owners and Black slaves have been long dead and buried. The Civil Rights struggle also ended sometime back and many of those on both sides of that struggle are also dead and buried. None of us living today ever experienced the days when Slavery was legal here, and many on this forum were born long after the Civil Rights struggle and never witnessed that either. Even us older ones here were too young at the time to know much about what was happening with the civil rights movement. A lot of the forum members here who want spout off the racial inequality crap don't know one shit what they're talking about...Oh, they quote studies....big shitty do!You must understand that skin tone alone does not account for a solid identity. People look up to their roots for a future. The Black community in America can only look up to slaves in that regard. How can a people, that can trace its roots to slavery look up to anything but slavery in the future?
True, the Blacks in America do not have to work on plantations anymore. But they still show all the characteristics of slaves. They are dependent on their masters(the "whites") for survival. Not just like in terms of sustenance, but their whole identity is essentially tied to the identity of their masters.
They use their names, their religion, conform to their culture, and work in their system.
Other "people of color" or whatever that means, are on the other hand, not so. They know their roots. They do not have the ongoing inferiority complex that is rampart amongst the Blacks.
Nothing that the whites can do can actually remedy this condition, whether it be "abolishing slavery" or giving them civil rights. Even with loads of money under "slavery reparations" is not going to make any difference, really. They need to get out of this slave mentality themselves, and establish a strong identity, with actual or even imaginary roots.
Today, most Blacks do not have a sense of pride, even if they tell that they do. They engage in crime, drugs, fornication, and many of their chilren grow up with their mothers only. Family is practically non-existent, and most can only look up to being low class workers and drug dealers(or rappers). That is not due to white privilage or something, its just due to the fact that their aspirations are rather low, due to their lack of a solid ethnic identity other than the identity that their masters have bestowed upon them once upon a time.
