Following the controversy of Valladolid (1550–1551) the church determined that blacks had no soul that could be saved by the blood of Jesus Christ and could be enslaved at will, like cattle. I guess some people still live 500 years ago.
Their conclusion had drastic implications because it meant that even if a black guy prayed to Jesus and acted like a christian, it meant nothing, just like a dog that was tamed to walk on 2 legs meant nothing. They basically acted on the expression that sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken.
Their judgement was not idiotic because they were primitive people that were only guided by religion and their faith in Jesus, however, a 2014 dude that follows that same judgement IS an idiot and will remain an idiot for as long as he lives.
