He should resign because he is an idiot. He also thinks the voters are idiots. After all, he is now claiming he had nothing to do with shutting the government. He is depending on the republican voter to be idiots and vote for him again.
Ah right. So he must resign because you don't like him. I have no love for him either but enough people do support him and they should be represented in a democracy. If people are denied representatives that reflect their opinion ultimately they rebel and unfortunately teh conservatives have vastly more weapons and combat experience that the rest of us.
Some may call them junk, I call them treasures.
