They will say that "circle" (flat round disc) is really "sphere" (round, three-dimensional ball). They will point to "corners" and "foundations" as colloquial terms (we still use phrases like "the ends of the earth" even today). It's a non-starter, IMO. There is certainly enough there to interpret it as claiming that the earth was basically like one of those snow globes, a flat disc with a canopy on which the sky was stretched out. But there is just enough ambiguity for them to insist that it's just figures of speech, and texts like Job 26:7 ("he hangs the earth on nothing") to imply that the ancient writers understood that it floated in space.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
