Torture means what?
Torture means sterilized needles under the fingernail, electric shocks in all most sensitive places, denailing, waterboarding, beating, light burning, cutting. Your loved one would be permanently crippled, but not dead.

Also you never actually get to see the psycho who kidnapped you. He gets thugs to knock you out & you wake up in the room.
