As you will note, if you read the wiki page, this is caused by a number of different bacteria.
I'm not sure if this is an actual case, but I imagine it is a fair representation of the results of this disease. There are many more examples on google images, just take my word for it, unless you want to be grossed out. So, are you still convinced that the earth is a perfect environment for humans? We can't even go outside without clothes and shoes on for Christ sake!
