Yikes. I don't think you're a poe. I just think you're a 13 year old kid who doesn't pay attention in school. So you believe in aliens? NO. Aliens are not something one believes in like your god (irony) or the tooth fairy. The likelihood that there are aliens in the cosmos (in whatever form - be it macro- or micro-organisms---even non organic life) is something that one can have an opinion on.

If you are trying to argue from design, please do us the favor of at least researching what you're going to say before you say it. Even the BS that comes out of AiG is better formulated than what you are espousing here. Come on. Your lack of knowledge is astounding.

Arguments from design, incredulity, etc. are tired and worthless. Bring something new.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

This was a response to - what are the chances of there being a God.

I will accept your assessment, but:

There is a 50% chance of that creator God being a deist God - not interested in you or anyone else or the planet or, probably, any of the events within the universe.

That makes your odd 25%

Now there are/have been 4,500 religions with more than 10,000 members on the earth. Each claims it is right and all the others are wrong.

There is a finite possibility that none of them are right, of course, that there is a theist God but no-one is worshipping him.

Your odds are now slipping to (1/4)*(1/4500)

No need to calculate it, because there's more:

There are 41,000 different churches - again each claims to be the only true path and that all others are wrong.

So your odds are now

(1/4)*(1/4500)*(1/41000) or 1 in 738,000,000

Peachy - get praying immediately - but pray you've got the right God because if you are praying to the wrong one you must be really pissing him off. How often do you pray by the way?

Probably better to ease off on that - don't want to keep reminding the real God that you are crediting someone else with his work too often.

Now - what was it you were saying about luck?

The world is perfect for us? Then why is 95% of liveable volume on earth, covered in water? Something we can't survive in.
I would also like to draw everyone's attention to this little critter:

Say hello to the bot fly. This particular parasite burrow into your flesh and then eats its way out when its matured. Isn't that just lovely? Doesn't that just seem perfect for humans? This is just one of millions of unpleasant and potentially life threatening parasites on this planet. So tell me again how this world is perfect for humans.....

Edit: meant volume, not area.

You have the audacity to act incredulous towards other people's beliefs, yet your username indicates you're infatuated with a magical man that supposedly walked on water and rose from the dead.

You just vaporized my irony meter.

The universe is infinite and always expanding and we've only explored a miniscule portion of it, so it would be rather arrogant to believe that life only exists or can only exist on Earth.

Or how about this charming fellow:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necrotizing_fasciitis

As you will note, if you read the wiki page, this is caused by a number of different bacteria.

I'm not sure if this is an actual case, but I imagine it is a fair representation of the results of this disease. There are many more examples on google images, just take my word for it, unless you want to be grossed out. So, are you still convinced that the earth is a perfect environment for humans? We can't even go outside without clothes and shoes on for Christ sake!

And yes you are right mr Moncrieff, this is fun!

I'm just interested as someone new here, are you doubting your faith (being on Atheist Forums....)? Are you just up for a fight (not exactly a wise move)? Are you attempting to have some kind of influence over everybody here? Sorry, it just strikes me that this is the most inappropriate place to make some of the comments you have done.
Feel free to be honest.
