Unfortunately, as much as they talk about cutting spending and reducing the debt, whenever there's a Republican in the white house, they never actually do it. Regan didn't reduce spending and the GOP damn near worships him. Dubya really didn't reduce spending and he's also the one who insisted on the bail-outs, being the first to use the line "to big to fail." It would be nice if they actually cared enough about the debt or cutting spending to eliminate some of these wasteful government subsidies for oil companies or defense contracts to build tanks and let them just sit in storage.
