Everything in moderation.
"Everything in moderation" is the person I try to be, but I couldn't care less how others want to live. If you want to be sober, fine. If you want to be drunk/stoned, ok. I can't base my trust in others on a sobriety factor. One of my oldest friends is my drunkest friend, and he'd lay down his life for anyone who cared about him. He's been one of the few in my life I can actually trust unconditionally, because he always comes through, no matter what. It has nothing to do with whether he's sober or not.
As far as the OP? I had pretending-to-put-money-in-the-collection-plate mastered. I didn't waste much money on church. Actually, I spent some time being a church secretary. It was probably more of a waste for them, considering they were paying an atheist who was inserting subtle jokes into the bulletin every week :p
