The picture below was me in front of my girl, the Blessed Virgin Mary, on Christmas day, at a Carmelite Monastery. THe Carmelite order is named after Mount Carmel and dates back to the time Elijah lived there. He started the school of prophets that eventually lead to a community of people living in cells and praying 24/7. When the Muslims conquered Israel the Carmelites were martyred or had to flee to Europe.
They then developed a rule of life and became recognized by the Pope as an order within the Church. So they started new Carmels throughout the world where they live as the Hermits at Mount Carmel lived.
I'm a failed monk!

I surprised one of my best friends for her 30th birthday party, having not seen her for almost 2 years. Her party was basically full grown adults playing games kids play in a park, for points.I'm friggin jealous steelcurtain! It looks like your life totally kicks ass!
It was set up in a decathlon type competition. 10 events, points for 1st, 2nd, 3rd. It was a blast. I got 3rd. (The birthday girl got 1st, of course, and my main competition beat me in flip cup---I'm no good at chugging beer)
We then went to Pat O'Brien's at Universal Studios, here's me with the birthday girl:
This is me a little later after a few Hurricanes...
I got to go to the beach, which was more than a little necessary for me...
Then, I wrapped up the week with one last night out with what I call the 1st Tier, my best friends since high school.
So much fucking fun. Back to work tomorrow...
