As I got older I also COMPLETELY avoided the topic of attraction and sexuality, even in my encouraging, sex-positive family, where a common practice now is debating which chicks on a particular show are hot. They were doing that without me, I just wasn't participating yet. Partially because I didn't even want to think about it yet. I just wasn't ready. But also because we never actually had a conversation about homosexuality. I knew that probably my mother had no problem with it in theory, but I had no idea if it might be different if her own child was gay.
You'd best believe I'm going to talk about it with my kid or kids, and reassure them that I'll still love them just the same no matter what, even if they turn out to be heterosexual.
