The opposite seems to happen, actually. Raise minimum wage and you increase demand. If, all of a sudden, I got $1 an hour raise, I'd immediately use that raise to get things like food, car repairs, video games, clothes and stuff like that. In turn, that increases the amount of business the stores who sell those things do.
I swear, the right side of politics is so focused on 'supply' that they've forgotten that demand is even a thing.
As for the original post, I would like the demorats tactics there, but there's one big flaw: they're demonstrating that they're willing to compromise and work with the Republicans, but the GOP is demonstrating that they're about as hard headed as they can get. It would be great campaigning for the Democrats if the voters actually remembered more than a few months before the elections.
