Gamblers(ones that actually make money), call this being results orientated. Basically a gambler(one that actually makes money) will not make a bet unless it has a positive expectation of profit. If they lose the bet, it still doesn't mean it was a bad bet to make. Just because you don't like the way this war turned out, doesn't mean it was a bad decision to go to war.
Japan and Germany turned out nicely after we clobbered them. It seems western style democracy can be exported by the barrel of the gun sometimes.
What happens in the long run Iraq remains to be seen.
