Imgur can delete photos are not well trafficked. In theory, were you to upload your avatar to that site and the postings and threads you were part of not trafficked for a period of time, then it would fall under the rule set to delete said images.
Given what they say in their FAQ, I don't think you'll fall victim to that condition easily. From the FAQ:
So I would suggest you use imgur for one-off hosting needs. If you need to contain galleries or keep an archive of images, other providers might serve the role better.
