Important Debate Question

They are calling me onto it. Like, my mother found a YouTube video of a scientist talking about the Earth and God and invited everyone for a family discussion following the video. My mom also asked me to download movies with Jesus Christ. So they regularly bring up the subject, a lot more than me.

Make it clear to them that it is a two way street. If you are to be open minded and watch these videos, then they should be open minded and watch some videos from another perspective as well.

If I try to dodge the subject and not talk about it, they blame me for not having an opinion, saying only morons don't have opinions. If I keep quiet, they tell me how my Dexedrine medication I take for my ADD is destroying my personality and my life in general. So far my parents have laid over 10 diagnosis on me, including depression and schizophrenia. Telling them that my serotonin is high and I never had psychosis symptoms is regarded as defensive behavior "Your grandpa defended his bottle his entire life too, I guess you're walking in his footsteps."

Woah. This is a situation I think that goes beyond this particular argument. How old are you? You need to learn to stand up for yourself. Don't allow people to talk to you like that. Make sure they know that these words and accusations are not helping anyone and are hurtful. You can have intelligent debate without attacking another person, in fact that's the only way to have intelligent debate. Don't let them bully you. If they want to talk about this stuff, you are allowed to have your terms. If they continue abusive behavior---don't engage in debate with them. Who gives a shit if they say you don't have an opinion? Let them wallow in their ignorance.
