Completely agree with Welsh Cake too, ol the original matrix was a good film, and would have been better if it was stand alone. The premise was set up and the arc of the characters was easily to follow. The open ended bit of the film where neo flies off allows the audience to draw their own conclusions but simultaneously proves that the world of the matrix will never be the same again following neo's ascension.
The latter two prove that the majority of people don't care about plot lines, neither to they try to in most cases. People just like flickering images on the screen, which is why utter shite like transformers and Adam sandler films consistently do well in the box office.
