WASHINGTON (AP) — As millions of Americans race to meet Tuesday's tax deadline, their chances of getting audited are lower than they have been in years.

Budget cuts and new responsibilities are straining the Internal Revenue Service's ability to police tax returns. This year, the IRS will have fewer agents auditing returns than at any time since at least the 1980s.

Taxpayer services are suffering, too, with millions of phone calls to the IRS going unanswered.

$37,000 per tape to back up useless emails - and trust me...most of them are USELESS....I had to read a lot of them and you wonder why an agency which can't afford to hire people for its primary function was trying to scrimp? I know you really want to hang the black guy...(you don't fool me with your protestations, Woodie) but if you read the article posted about the NARA system you'd know that if there were any emails to or from Lerner o the White House they would already have been on the NARA's systems which were not part of the IRS' email system.

No...the emails were not "lost". They were, however, purposefully destroyed to cover up evidence of criminal wrongdoing on the part of the IRS and person or persons unknown.
