I think you'll find that roman catholics generally don't place a lot of emphasis on individual interpretation of scriptures. I think there also tends to be less emphasis on literalism, or maybe it is only a willingness to be led by those less literal than themselves. But I've only been to one catholic wedding so I don't really know. (My wife admires the Catholics for their ability to confess, repent and move on. No endless guilt.)
I just want to know whether he/she believes that Jesus saw Elijah and Moses. And if so, how does he/she reconcile this with the view that there are no actual souls or spirits after death (if I understood correctly).
If not, then I have nothing more to ask in this specific case.
By the way, most Catholics believe in actual spirits and supernatural afterlife. So Purplundy must be one of those really liberal type of Catholic.
