A lot of them simply aren't very bright.
I sat in a church for five years wondering what on earth am I doing stuck in the center of this cultish atmosphere of haters and bigots? They were racists and self righteous. They judged others constantly. And they did it with a smile on their faces. We sweated it out and even walked out a few times but we kept coming back. They were anti public schools because they taught children science and bullying was bad. They said that smart people are idiots because they think too much. I had had enough of them and leaving the church was a decision I made after having passed ordination classes. It was the most politically charged republican propaganda machine besides Fox News.
