I'm conflicted op.....are you being satirical or should I read that post straight?

If that question was directed at me, yes the original post is completely serious. Maybe "Charles Krauthammer says so" sounded flippant, but it wasn't meant to.

Iran will soon have the nukes and, yes, they have a lunatic end-times theology that involves creating apocalyptic nuclear war to bring back the 12th Imam. These are not people you can negotiate with, because they do not have the concept of rational self-interest. They are complete religious looney tunes. Total nutjobs. Barking. Nuclear. Mad.

Unbelievable but true. Mutually assured destruction does not apply to these lunatics. They are nuclear suicide bombers.

I'm old enough to remember hearing the same claims about Pakistan. They were religious fanatics who were certain to nuke India, even if it meant their own destruction. Some Pakistanis in the government said as much.

Turns out they're not as suicidal as they make themselves out to be. It is an entirely different mindset to be the one who convinces someone to blow themselves up than to be the one who can be convinced to do so. The people who would have the capability to launch a nuclear strike from Iran are not the people who can be convinced to blow themselves up, they're the ones who convince other people to sacrifice themselves.
