It's more that I just want to get an opportunity to experience each era to its fullest. On the longer settings, production seems to be the only thing that is actually longer. Which is funny because it's about the only damn thing I'd want to keep about the same speed as on normal settings. Culture, city growth and tech progression (especially tech progression) all go relatively fast.
