A couple of his quotes reveal his stance:
America is not a Christian nation.
Islam has always been a part of America.
He belongs to the United Church of Christ and has for decades, so ti's pretty obvious unless you're a conspiracy nut.
It's factual that we are not a Christian nation and never have been: we are a Christian country because Christianity is the majority religion, but we are not a Christian nation because Christianity, nor any other religion, is the official religion of the USA.
Muslims have been here since before the Declaration of Independence, so that is factual as well.
Though I might judge differently were I to base my opinion solely on your example, Christianity doesn't require one to believe things that are demonstrably false.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
