"rather bizarre scoring" - I don't know what you've done, but I just had a[n] (awesome, terrible) idea (pick one) for alternate scoring -
The idea would not be to pick the standouts - rather, you'd want to pick the worst sad sack players who actually get play time. Instead of quarterbacks getting points for points scored, yards thrown, and the like, they'd score points for losing fumbles, being intercepted, being sacked... Defense scores points by allowing allowing the other team to run up the score and rack up massive yards... you get the idea. Whomever's lineup makes the most mistakes, wins!
Yeah, it's probably a terrible idea - but it could be fun.
