Should we allow Pandas to go extinct?

Is it ethical for us as a species, in this survival-of-the-fittest harsh reality, to favor other animals over our own survival and well-being?

That ain’t being ethical that’s being realistic and practical. And what’s realist and practical ain’t always ethical.

Nature is a bitch, yet we seem to think we're under some moral obligation to go against the flow, the order as it were.

Yeah it’s called humanity.

Is what makes us humans.

Hell, some 2.4 billion people, one-third of the world's population, are without the basics - water, sanitation and hygiene. Yet we don't really care that much or address the core of the problem.

So just because our mayor concern is our own species is okay to sacrifice the rest of the planet to save them?

Its downright appalling that we, as a social-species, have allowed this current state of affairs to happen, continue to happen, and get worse.

Yeah that’s why I am pro saving the pandas. It’s called: “taking care of your own mess.” We made the world this way now let's try to fix it.

Its not just a global phenomenon, its local too. Recently, the NSPCC arrived with police up in a street in my town, a child was being abused, yet no one battered an eye-lid.

I’m sorry why were people more important that pandas again?

Now, 30 minutes later the RSPCA pulled on the opposite side with an officer over the report of a dog in a car, and every spectator went "awwwww". Then, amusingly, several in the crowd turned around and went "Wait, WTF is wrong with us? We cared only about the dog in distress and not the poor kid?"

I know right. How can they care more about the Dog. What’s so great about the Dog. We humans are so much valuable it’s not like we were a bunch of hominids that dedicate their lives toward hating each others…. wait minute.

Pandas are living creatures that deserve some dignity and respect. Is it ethical therefore, to force them to have sex and breed? Against their will?

Yeah because Pandas are such celibate creatures(you make it sound like we literally mind control them to mate).

Just because we think they are "cute"?

I also care about the wolfish extinction since they are also an endangered species and believe me they are everything but cute.

Imagine if you will:
You are one of the last humans alive on planet Earth. A combination of natural disasters had decimated our population... for all intents and purposes, let's just say, we're all but extinct.

Now a race of giant Cloverfield-like aliens arrive, and get this, find us to be the cutest little critters they've ever seen in the entire galaxy and feel compelled to save us.

They take you and pair you up with another human being of the opposite sex. You find the setup repugnant. You are not remotely interested, nor sexually attracted to this other person... at all. You'd rather live a peaceful life by yourself.

Yet the Cloverfield-esque aliens force you two together, setting up various scenarios, in the desperate hopes you'll have many many children to entertain them for years to come.

Dude just say imagine you were the pandas.

They want to distribute your offspring to other worlds they've colonized. They're willing to spend an unbelievable amount of time, money and resources to your conservation

I don’t blame them. I’m adorable.

Turns out, they don't treat their own kind too generously either, and are apathetic to the suffering and misery of those who aren't doing so good on other worlds.

Good! Why should I care what they do to themselves? They are my oppressors.

They don't believe in the saying "charity starts at home".

Neither do I.

They're the dominant species in the galaxy, they can do whatever the fuck they want.

Says who? You’ve never seen rise of the planet of the apes?

They clearly have good taste.

Now, this is obviously unethical, and indeed immoral. How is any of this different from what we're currently doing. :c

Emmm I dunno maybe just maybe because pandas aren’t humans. Nor they reason nor act or value the same thing as humans? Don’t get me wrong I agree that they are unfairly treated because I care. And is because I care that I don’t want them to go extinct.

Seriously guys, let Pandas go extinct! What the hell is wrong with you.

Just answer me one question.

What is the value of a human life if humans don’t value the life of other species?
