They aren't by American standards though. African-americans have a higher poverty rate, get longer sentences than white people for the same crime and are more likely to be searched or arrested if stopped by the police, among other things.
Like how black people in libya are more likely to be suspected to be loyal to Gaddafi (azlám) e.g Tawergha.
Racism sucks
What's weird for me is that the US is supposed to be good at this, it has a black president for speaking out loud.
