This country has become far too litigious. Sue everybody! ~Sol Rosenberg.
In my opinion we're already going too far with allowing lawsuits for... what's really nothing more than hurt feelings. Sure having your heart broken can be devastating, I've been there... but disappointments are a factor in all walks of life. If we start to give legal precedence to cases where civil relationships didn't turn out the way someone hoped, where will it end?
Our freedoms are already being compromised by fear of legal action. Someone gets offended by something they saw on a TV or radio show, so they write a letter. The next thing you know people are forced to make insincere formal apologies and/or people's careers get destroyed. People should suck it up I say!
Sometimes our feelings will be hurt, sometimes we'll be offended, sometimes we'll be disappointed by someone we put our trust into. There are life lessons to be learned in all of these things. No government should have any influence in how we individually handle them. There are exceptions of course like defamation and denigrating slander.
I understand your point and that the post was "just a thought". The bottom line is that sometimes things suck and people are betraying a-holes. We can't allow for any more frivolous lawsuits than we already do.
