Seriously, I don't follow pop culture at all, and most mainstream entertainment doesn't really interest me enough to learn anything about the people responsible for it.

It is definitely legitimate, there are about 10 or more celebs involved, although some of them are fakes apparently.
Yeah, I haven't followed the story. "Hacked by a third party" certainly is plausible.
