Stock version that came with the S5 Active when it was released - 4.4.2
I doubt it's "stock", unless by stock you mean the version hacked together by your carrier.

No excuse for that at all. I only know this cause I needed to copy a block of text off and found myself confused. iOS has spoiled me.
Android APIs and development is still pretty shitty (much better than 2.x days - ugh).
Without IntelliJ, I would've dropped an asteroid on Google.
I do wish Apple would drop their anti JIT bias. It would be nice to use PyPy. The best we have is Kivy, a Cython-CPython monstrosity.
I don't doubt that IOS APIs are more mature, nor do I doubt that IOS has many advantages. Certainly, we can agree that there are things in each environment that suck - and it's likely we'd agree on many of the specifics.
I hear you with respect to IntelliJ - without it, I'd have dropped a bomb on Java. Then again, I've got plenty of rocks to throw JetBrains' direction as well. Overall, though, it saves me far more time than it costs me - particularly compared to developing with the standard GNU toolchain (though that admittedly is an apples-oranges comparison).
