He was an ardent christian most of his life, until he started looking into a lot of the things he was told were true. He found they were not true.
It's you believers who usually have more than the basic requirement of believing in gods or goddesses. You have many qualifiers, such 'god is really love', or 'you are not doing it the right way cuz of...'. That's why there are so many religions and sects. Each goes beyond a simple belief in a creator. The creator now has properties and characteristics, and everyone is certain that they have a clearer understanding of it than anyone else.
I'm really shitty at giving kudos and rep. That's because I would be inconsistent in remembering to do them, and also I don't really want it to show if any favouritism is happening.
