To be more nit-picky, dog shit is a bit different to the evidence we're talking about here. We know for sure where dog shit comes from, what its cause is. X-ray evidence that you're talking about? Can't be as sure. We haven't actually seen the dog yet.
Sure, that's why I was careful to say "X-ray source" instead of "black hole". :p. The point is, that contrary to Heywood's initial assertion, is that physical evidence is not synonymous with direct observation.
