The point is, psychoslice, that we already do know a lot more than what you let on about, for example:
“Leptin is the primary signal from energy stores and exerts negative feedback effects on energy intake. In common obesity, leptin loses the ability to inhibit energy intake and increase energy expenditure; this is termed leptin resistance.” (Enriori et al., 2006, p. 1).
Obesity is caused by leptin resistance, not by overeating. I don't see how you can't grasp that simple fact. Type 2 diabetes is caused by insulin resistance, and in its case it's true that insulin resistance is caused by the prolonged systematic over-consumption of dietary sugars; and thus it's generally considered preventable. In the case of obesity, we now know that over-consumption is not the cause of leptin resistance, it is specific food types. I.e. foods that activate chemical signals which block leptin. Lustig, for instance, believes there's evidence to show that insulin blocks leptin, and that the higher one's insulin levels are the higher their resistance to leptin will be. Leptin resistance is the cause of over-consumption, not the other way around.

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK
"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke
