Meaning we have been commanded to tame the wild things, to destroy our predators to harness the forces He put into place in this world and have them work for us....For hippies and people who hate God they have no eternity to look forward to, no 'New Heaven/New Earth to live in. This is all they have.
Subduing something and taking care of it are not mutually exclusive acts. If you really believe that God created everything--and then declared it 'good'--then it seems he would like for you--as his ambassador--to care about perpetuating his creation. You believe that God will come back someday, but there is no way for you to know when it will happen. It has already taken 2,000+ years. If, as Christians believe, God has his own timetable, couldn't he easily wait another 2,000 years? However, if the earth doesn't last that long, you are effectively inhibiting God's plan by hastening your little death-apalooza. Shouldn't you be doing everything you can to take care of the earth so that it lasts the next 2,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years while Christians are still waiting?
